The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) foiled an attempt by Russian intelligence agencies to carry out a bloody terrorist attack in the Odessa region. Thanks to the SSU's proactive actions, a Russian agent preparing a synchronized explosion of a Ukrainian Armed Forces administrative building and a nearby parked vehicle was detained.

The Ukrainian intelligence service uncovered the agent in advance and ensured the protection of the site, which helped avoid casualties and neutralize the consequences of one of the bombs detonated remotely from Russia.

According to the case materials, the perpetrator of the attack was a 21-year-old woman from the frontline city of Kostiantynivka in Donetsk region, who was recruited remotely by two Russian intelligence officers.

Following their instructions, the agent arrived in the Odessa region, rented an apartment, and personally assembled the explosives there.

The bomb's main component was plastic explosives, which she took from a pre-prepared hiding place. To maximize damage, she loaded it with nuts and equipped a mobile phone for remote detonation.

Immediately after placing the explosives, the agent was detained by SSU counterintelligence officers.

The Russian forces promised her money for carrying out the terrorist attack, but instead, she received a suspicion notice from SSU investigators under Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (a terrorist act committed by a group of individuals in conspiracy).

The offender is in custody and faces up to 12 years in prison with asset confiscation.

The operation was carried out by the SSU in the Odessa and Kharkiv regions under the procedural guidance of the Odessa Regional Prosecutor's Office.
