The Security Service of Ukraine counterintelligence has neutralized another agent network of the Russian military intelligence (GRU) in Kyiv. Following a series of comprehensive measures, three Russian accomplices were detained, one of whom is a Russian citizen.
According to the investigation, the primary mission of the criminals was to adjust Russian airstrikes on the capital of Ukraine.
The main targets of the Russian forces were defense factories and weapon and ammunition depots of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
According to the case materials, the agents operated separately but were coordinated by a GRU officer, whose identity has already been established by the SSU counterintelligence.
It was found that the detained Russian spy had been living in Ukraine in a "waiting mode," and after the start of the full-scale war, he was activated by the Russian military intelligence.
To adjust fire, the Russian agent set up an observation point on the roof of a Kyiv high-rise building.
To gain access to the "viewing platform" of the building, the agent used friendly relations with a representative of a local homeowners' association who had keys to all the technical rooms.
The other two individuals were current and former employees of Ukraine's defense companies. One collected information about the consequences of Russian missile strikes, the number of employees at factories, repair bases, etc. The other discreetly inquired with his former colleagues about the locations of potential targets.
The SSU counterintelligence documented the agents' crimes and arrested them. During searches, computer equipment and mobile phones containing agent "reports" were seized.
A drone was also seized, which one of the agents planned to use for aerial surveillance of defense facilities.
Two of the criminals are in custody without the right to post bail. For the third, a request has been submitted to the court for a preventive measure.
