The Swiss-German company Global Clearance Solutions (GCS), one of the world’s leading manufacturers of robotic demining systems, will produce 26 more GCS-200 mechanized demining machines for Ukraine in 2025. These will be added to the 62 units already operating in various regions of the country, the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported.
"Currently, 62 GCS-200 mechanized demining machines are operating in various regions of Ukraine. This year, the fleet is expected to expand by another 26 units," the statement on the ministry's website said on Monday.
The project is funded by international donors, including the governments of Germany, Switzerland, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Lithuania, as well as through the United24 platform.
Representatives of the Ministry of Defense, at the invitation of the management of GCS's Ukrainian branch, visited the company’s production facilities in Germany. GCS specializes in the development and testing of demining machines.
"GCS is one of the world’s leaders in manufacturing robotic demining systems. Its equipment is used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Special Transport Service, the State Emergency Service, and the National Police. These are reliable, modern systems that have demonstrated their effectiveness in operations. The company provides a full range of services to the security and defense forces, including training and technical support for its machines," said Yevhen Zubarevskyi, head of the mine action organization department and deputy head of the mine action management department at the Main Directorate for Mine Action, Civil Protection, and Environmental Safety.
The GCS-200 unmanned multipurpose platform, samples of which were delivered last year to a military unit of the Support Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, has several modifications. As a tracked vehicle, it is highly maneuverable and can perform an in-place turn with a minimal radius of approximately four meters. The use of mechanized demining machines reduces risks for sappers and speeds up land clearance operations.
