The Third Separate Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has officially become the Third Army Corps.

This was announced by the current head of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, Andriy Biletsky.

The brigade explained that over the past three years, it has implemented new technologies, changed its approach to training personnel, and created the best recruitment system in the country.

"Over the past three years, we have gained unique experience in fierce battles, carried out successful counteroffensives, and became the most effective in using drones on the front lines. We implemented new technologies, changed the approach to training personnel, and created the best recruitment system in the country. We launched our own FPV and NPK schools. We created large-scale cultural and educational projects. Now, it is time to expand the horizons," the statement says.

"Our plans are to change the principles of this war. And that means changing the course of the war in favor of Ukraine. Si vis pacem para bellum. Glory to Ukraine," said the brigade commander, now the commander of the corps, Andriy Biletsky.

The brigade revealed that the new corps will be built on the following principles:

  • Combat training
  • Professional non-commissioned officer corps
  • Work on management, planning, and technological advancements

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have started a process that has been discussed for many years: the establishment of new large formations — army corps.

These corps are intended to improve the coordination of brigades and other units during defense and offensives.

In military theory, an army corps is a permanent unit consisting of several brigades.

The main function of the corps is to coordinate the actions of brigades in a specific area during offense or defense. Additionally, it ensures that its units are provided with the necessary resources based on the assigned tasks and the situation on the battlefield.

An army corps can consist of anywhere from two to five brigades, with the personnel number ranging from 10,000 to 50,000 or more fighters, depending on the country, type of army, and mission. The command of the corps has enough resources at its disposal to deploy them as needed across various sections of the front to accomplish the assigned tasks.
