Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a telephone conversation with UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham, who announced that the United Kingdom would provide Ukraine with an additional £10 billion in financial support.
Of this amount, £7 billion will be allocated to economic support over the next three years, while a further £3 billion will be provided through British export support, primarily to facilitate the supply of essential weapons that will strengthen Ukraine's ability to protect lives. This assistance comes in addition to the annual support already provided by the United Kingdom to Ukraine.
"A truly significant and very timely step — precisely when Russia must see and feel that Ukraine will not be left alone to face the challenges that Russia is so determined to escalate," the President said.
Zelenskyy emphasised that every step towards strengthening Ukraine brings Russia closer to recognising that it must end the war it started.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Andy Burnham also discussed sanctions policy, with the United Kingdom reaffirming its commitment to maintaining a principled position. The President described this as an important example for the international community.
Zelenskyy thanked the United Kingdom for its unwavering, strong and leading support.
"I am grateful to Britain, to Prime Minister Burnham and his team, and to everyone around the world who understands that standing with Ukraine means standing on the right side of history," the President stated.
