The World Ice Hockey Championship in Division IA has started in the Romanian city of Sfântu Gheorghe. In their opening match at Sepsi Arena, the Ukrainian national team lost to Great Britain in a shootout 3-4 (0-1, 2-1, 1-1, 0-0, 0-2).
In the first round, Japan lost to Italy 1-4 (0-2, 1-2, 0-0), and Romania will face Poland at 19:30.
