Yevgeny Prigozhin's criminal group, "Wagner Group" has already lost about 40 out of 50 thousand recruited prisoners during the war in Ukraine. This was stated by the head of the prisoners' rights organization "Russia Behind Bars" Olga Romanova, in an interview for My Russian Rights.

According to Romanova, as of the end of last year, 39,000 to 43,000 Russian prisoners, who were promised amnesty, were recruited to the "Wagner Group" according to various data. According to updated data, this number has now increased to 50,000.

"Ten thousand of them are fighting at the front because all the rest are either killed, or three hundred, or disappeared, or deserted, or surrendered," said the human rights activist.

Earlier, Ukrainian military expert Petro Chernyk said on a national telethon that the mobilization and recruitment of prisoners in Russia continues. Therefore, one cannot underestimate the colossal number of people that the enemy wants to use in the war with Ukraine.

"The two hottest spots remain - Bakhmut and Soledar. This is logical, let me remind you why: Putin still tried to issue an order to enter the administrative borders of the Donetsk region by the end of 2022. It didn't work they were suffering very unprecedented losses there and tried to switch to Soledar, where Prigozhin tried to play himself as a separate commander. It did not work: PMC "Wagner" suffered simply incredible losses there. At the moment, they are estimated to be killed and wounded in the range of 40,000, which is approximately two-thirds of this structure," the expert said.
