Ukraine and Denmark are expanding their defense partnership. Ukrainian Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov, Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine Herman Smetanin, and Danish Minister of Defense Troels Lund Poulsen signed a Letter of Intent to deepen cooperation between the two countries in the defense industry.

Specifically, the agreement will develop the "Danish model" for financing Ukrainian production, which has already proven effective.

"Denmark is one of Ukraine's most consistent allies. Since 2022, it has provided over 7 billion euros in military assistance. Together, we are developing Ukraine’s defense-industrial complex: under the 'Danish model,' nearly 600 million euros have already been attracted, and in 2025, another 1.5 billion euros of investment is planned," said Rustem Umerov.

Additionally, Denmark has committed to allocating 2.2 billion euros annually from 2025 to 2028 to meet Ukraine's defense priorities. The country also continues its work on supplying and supporting F-16 aircraft, as well as training Ukrainian pilots and technical personnel.

The meeting in Kyiv was also attended by representatives of the Danish Parliament, as well as Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine for European Integration Serhiy Boyev and Acting Head of the Defense Procurement Agency (DPA) Arsen Zhumadylov.

The parties discussed the security situation and enemy plans.

Air Force Commander Brigadier General Oleh Zakharchuk spoke about the role of F-16 aircraft in protecting Ukraine's skies. The Ukrainian delegation highly appreciated Denmark's leadership in the process of transferring modern combat aircraft to Ukraine.

“I thank Troels Lund Poulsen and the Danish parliamentarians for this visit. Denmark remains a reliable ally of Ukraine, and we are strengthening our cooperation,” concluded the Minister of Defense of Ukraine.
