Leading equipment manufacturers demonstrated the operation of modern ground robotic explosive ordnance disposal systems in field conditions. The event, “The Future of Demining: Ukraine in Action,” took place at the Ukrainian Training and Testing Complex (UTTC).
Demonstrated systems included the ground robotic clearance system “Zmiй,” the remotely controlled humanitarian demining system 5100 GART, the mechanized device “Legenda,” the multi-purpose ground drone, the tracked vehicle UDM VORMELA, mobile robotic carriers DOK-ING MV-4 and MV-10, the GERMINA URCM-3000 machine, mechanical clearance machine MEMATT-MR1, GSC-200, and other equipment.
“For the equipment used in humanitarian demining, conditions close to real ones were created. During the movement of small and large mechanized clearance machines along designated routes, simulated detonations, mock explosive devices, and other typical threats found in contaminated areas were used,” explained Colonel Ruslan Berehulya, Head of the Main Directorate for Demining, Civil Protection, and Environmental Safety.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, and the United Nations Development Programme. It brought together all key players in Ukraine’s demining sector: from engineers and manufacturers to technology users, including representatives of the state and international partners.
The UTTC training and testing complex for developing advanced technologies in demining, civil protection, and environmental safety was opened on June 6 this year at the initiative of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
