The analysts at Picodi Ukraine checked the prices of 364 internet providers in 85 countries worldwide and compiled a ranking of countries with the cheapest and most expensive internet access. The study took into account offers for unlimited home fiber-optic internet without additional services such as television or mobile internet.

Ukraine ranked second in the affordability rating—Ukrainians pay around 223 UAH per month for a speed of 100 Mbps. Among Ukrainian internet providers, this speed is the most popular, both locally and on a global average.

According to the latest data from Speedtest.net, the average internet speed worldwide is 85 Mbps. Moreover, for streaming 4K UHD quality videos on popular streaming services, a connection speed of 15 to 50 Mbps is sufficient.

Based on the gathered data by Picodi Ukraine, the most popular among available internet connections is the 100 Mbps speed. Out of 85 providers, 74 offer this speed in their pricing. Interestingly, in countries like Spain, China, Singapore, and France, such "slower" internet speeds are no longer offered.

For a comfortable 100 Mbps speed, residents of Norway pay the most (an average of $79.4 per month), followed by Iceland ($62.1/month) and Australia ($61.8/month). The lowest price for a speed of 100 Mbps is noted in Russia ($5.6/month), Ukraine ($6.1/month), and Romania ($6.4/month).

The study also checked the speed of internet connection that can be obtained for $20 per month (approximately 730 UAH). The list excludes 34 countries (mostly from Western Europe, as well as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and Japan) where major providers do not offer internet connection services within this price range.

At the top of the ranking is Latvia, where a speed of 1.2 Gbps can be obtained for less than $20.

Ukraine shares the 2nd place with 13 other countries where a speed of 1 Gbps costs less than this amount. This list also includes Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, and Slovakia.

In some countries, high-speed internet is a luxury available to few. In the Philippines, Costa Rica, Paraguay, Peru, and Venezuela, internet access at a speed of 1 Gbps costs around $100 or even more.

The least paid for a 1 Gbps tariff is in Ukraine ($8.2/month), Romania ($9.2/month), and Russia ($10.2/month).
