The Government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg provided humanitarian aid to Ukraine—modern medicines for the treatment of viral hepatitis C in children aged 3 to 12. The delivery of the medicines was made possible through the joint efforts of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the Public Health Center, the Ministry of Health and Social Security of Luxembourg led by Ms. Martine Deprez, and with the support of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Kingdom of Belgium.

The shipment included the original drug EPCLUSA (sofosbuvir/velpatasvir) in dosages of 200 mg/50 mg and 150 mg/37.5 mg, already delivered to Ukraine. The medicines have been distributed to medical institutions where children are under doctors’ supervision and will soon begin treatment.

In total, 28 children in Ukraine required treatment for hepatitis C. In July, eight of them had already received the necessary medications. Thanks to this humanitarian shipment from Luxembourg, another 20 patients will now be able to start treatment.

Currently, treatment for children with hepatitis C remains extremely costly, as no generic alternatives exist, making this the only available therapy for this age group. Therefore, this support is crucial for ensuring access to treatment.

The Ministry of Health of Ukraine expresses its sincere gratitude to the Government of Luxembourg for its consistent support, which is saving the lives of Ukrainian children
