The Ukrainian national team won its first powerlifting medal at the World Games in Chengdu, China.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Anatolii Novopysmennyi became the Games champion in the heavyweight category of classic powerlifting with a score of 119.41 points under the IPF formula.
The 28-year-old athlete from Poltava lifted 362.5 kg in the squat, 230 kg in the bench press, and 345 kg in the deadlift.
Our multiple-time world champion and record holder added the World Games “gold” to his medal collection.
The “silver” and “bronze” medals went to Sweden’s representatives Gustav Hedlund (116.57 points) and Emil Norling (113.93 points), respectively.
