From December 20 to 22, 2024, "Ukrainian Film Days" will take place in Riga, becoming an important event to strengthen cultural ties between Ukraine and Latvia. The event will be dedicated to International Cinema Day, the Christmas holidays, and the 100th anniversary of Sergei Parajanov’s birth.
The festival program includes screenings of the following films:
- "Shchedryk Against Russkiy Mir" directed by Oleksandr Nazarov – the opening film about the significance of the song as a symbol of resistance.
- "Shchedryk" directed by Olesya Morgunets-Isayenko – a Ukrainian-Polish co-production about cultural identity.
- "The Birth of Ukrainian Cinema" directed by Almar and Lyudmyla Serebrenikovy – a documentary journey into the history of Ukrainian cinema.
- "Sentimental Journey to Parajanov’s Planet" directed by Taras Tomenko – a film dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the legendary director.
- "The Taste of Freedom" directed by Oleksandr Berezian – a story about the power of freedom.
