The government has supported the resolution proposed by the Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov, which expedites the launch and development of ammunition production in Ukraine.
This information was reported by the Ministry of Defense press service.
A similar resolution was already put into effect in July 2023. The previous document pertained to ammunition for drones and combat components of unmanned systems.
"We have obtained results from the experimental resolution regarding production for unmanned systems. We see that our approach is yielding results. The number of manufacturers and the volume of production are increasing," said Umerov.
The mentioned experiment introduced a new, simplified regulation of production, establishing clear criteria for manufacturers and their capacities, as well as the procedures for development and production.
This allowed for the scaling of the production of relevant munitions and improving the supply condition of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with corresponding ammunition.
During the implementation of the experimental procedure, about 20 new ammunition manufacturers for unmanned systems emerged and commenced operations.
It is reported that there are currently 21 approved models of ammunition in the arsenal, with 8 ammunition models having undergone testing and currently undergoing the approval process, and 29 ammunition models undergoing demonstration trials.
"That is why we proposed to use similar approaches to increase the quantity of domestically produced ammunition in Ukraine. The development of capacities in the Ukrainian military industry is what will provide us with security and peace," added the minister.
