Russia persists in using North Korean troops in combat operations against Ukraine, with DPRK forces stationed in the Kursk region sustaining significant losses.
This was reported by Ukraine's Defense Intelligence Directorate.
According to Ukrainian Intelligence, Russian drone units are providing support and coordination for North Korean assault groups in the Kursk region.
"On the morning of December 20, 2024, DPRK assault troops on one of the frontlines sustained at least five casualties. Despite this, Russian officers ordered the unit to maintain its position," the report stated.
Additionally, a North Korean mortar crew was confirmed to have been neutralized.
"On the frontlines, DPRK units are experiencing a shortage of drinking water due to logistical challenges caused by active hostilities," Ukrainian Intelligence noted.
On December 20, Ukrainian Defense and Security Forces inflicted heavy losses on DPRK troops in the vicinity of Novoiavanivka, Kursk region, following a precision strike on enemy concentrations.
Despite these setbacks, Russia continued resupplying DPRK units with ammunition and provisions on December 21 to replenish losses and sustain offensive actions.
On December 22, a successful strike by Ukrainian forces, likely targeting a key DPRK communication hub, resulted in a significant reduction in radio traffic among North Korean military units.
