On June 25, the working team of State Border Service of Ukraine received in France three hulls of FPB-98 patrol boats manufactured by OCEA, which are being built for the needs of the Ukrainian coast guard.
The first assembled boat will arrive in Ukraine at the end of 2021 and nine more similar vessels are expected to arrive in 2022. This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov.
It is worth noting that the first hull of the FPB-98 series boat was built at the French shipyard Les Sables-d'Olonne in February 2020.
Later, the French Cabinet of Ministers approved the implementation of external government borrowings in the amount of up to 116 million euros in accordance with the Framework Agreement between Ukraine and France on the manufacture and technical support of these patrol ships.
Ukraine has ordered twenty boats of this type. Five of them will be built at the Nibulon shipyard in Nikolaev. The contract must be completed by the end of 2023.
The equipment is planned to be distributed between the units of the Ukrainian maritime service in Odessa, Nikolaev, Mariupol, Berdyansk, Izmail and Kiliya.
