A team from the PL of KPI Igor Sikorsky Lyceum won an international AI hackathon for teenagers - they presented a prototype application that helps learn sign language.
This was reported by the Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov.
He noted that the students created the ConnectAbility application prototype in just two days. It teaches sign language to children with hearing impairments and can also serve as a "voice translator" since it can recognize and vocalize gestures.
Fedorov added that Ukraine participated in the Teens in AI hackathon for the first time, and this did not prevent them from winning.
Only 5 teams out of over 40 were selected for the final. Ukrainian students competed with teams from Britain, Turkey, Kazakhstan, and Thailand.
"The future of Ukraine lies in innovations - we create them despite everything. Imagine how cool technological future awaits Ukraine with such youth," - Fedorov notes.
First, the team from the KPI Lyceum won the Ukrainian stage of the international Teens in AI hackathon.
Deputy Minister for Digital Development, Digital Transformation, and Digitization, Dmytro Zavhorodniy, then stated that these developments could significantly improve education, making it more inclusive for students and accessible to every child regardless of their place of residence.
