Ukrferry has launched a ferry connection between Varna (Bulgaria) and Batumi (Georgia).

The ferry Vilnius, which can carry 50 universal railway wagons and 50 TIR heavy trucks simultaneously, made a trip from Varna to Batumi and back. On January 21, the Panama-flagged vessel is set to depart again for the shores of Georgia, according to Ukrferry. It is planned that it will operate weekly regular trips.

It was reported, in particular, that the Vilnius ferry had been at the Varna Ship Repair and Shipbuilding Plant. The Bulgarian maritime agent Vart BG later assured that the vessel passed all necessary inspections and that there were no technical issues with its service at the Varna ferry complex.

It is worth noting that interest in transportation between Varna and Georgia has been shown not only by the Ukrainian company. In December, Bulgarian media reported that the AIA ferry transported railway tankers and wagons from the Varna ferry complex to Poti for the second time. AIA operates between the Romanian Black Sea port of Constanța and Georgia, but the shipping company E60 Shipping Line has announced its intention to launch regular ferry services between Varna and Poti.
