UNESCO and the Danish organization Blue Shield Danmark have launched the Backup Ukraine project to preserve Ukrainian cultural sites during the war. The initiative created archives with digital 3D copies of important historical buildings.
Anyone can join the project as volunteer - for this you need to be in Ukraine and fill out a Google form.
However, the initiative organizers urge not to digitize the monuments without first involving the team.
To create a digital model of the monument, they use the Polycam application - LiDAR & 3D Scanner, available for ioS. Thanks to the application, you can easily create a 3D model. To do this, open the application, press the record button and go around the desired object.
