The US Embassy in Ukraine has warned of an increased risk of Russian attacks on Ukraine leading up to Independence Day. The embassy has provided a list of necessary actions to take in case of emergencies.
The embassy reports:
"The U.S. Embassy in Kyiv assesses that during the next several days and through the weekend there is an increased risk of both nighttime and daytime Russian drone and missile attacks throughout Ukraine in connection with Ukraine’s Independence Day on August 24," the statement reads.
At the same time, the US Embassy in Ukraine noted the actions that need to be taken in case of danger:
- Monitor local media for updates
- Identify shelter locations in advance of any air alert
- Immediately take shelter if an air alert is announced
- Follow the directions of Ukrainian officials and first responders in the event of an emergency
