Verkhovna Rada calls on the governments and parliaments of the world's states to recognize PMC "Wagner" as an international criminal organization.


The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a resolution recognizing the Russian criminal organization known as the Wagner Private Military Company or the Wagner Group as an international criminal organization and condemning the activities of its members (No. 8397). 333 people's deputies voted for this decision.

The corresponding resolution, according to the decision of the relevant committee, is proposed to recognize the Russian criminal organization, known as the Wagner Private Military Company or the Wagner Group, as an international criminal organization and to condemn the activities of the participants in this international criminal organization and structures involved in it, including Russian government structures as an aggressor state, and its individuals.

It is also proposed to appeal to the governments and parliaments of the states of the world to recognize PMC "Wagner" as an international criminal organization, despite the illegal nature of the activities of its members in Ukraine and other regions of the world.

"Despite the current demand in society regarding the proper response of the law enforcement system to the commission of the gravest war crimes, crimes against humanity, and crimes of genocide in Ukraine, as well as the implementation of the principle of inevitability of punishment, to recommend the Office of the Prosecutor General to strengthen the effectiveness of the organization of procedural management of the pre-trial investigation of criminal offenses committed on the territory of Ukraine by members of the Wagner Group for its high-quality and prompt implementation and transfer of relevant materials to the court following the procedure established by law." the statement said.

In addition, it is planned to propose to the Office of the Prosecutor General to intensify cooperation with the International Criminal Court in investigating and bringing to international criminal responsibility for the commission of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and crimes of the genocide of the leadership and members of the Wagner group.

The resolution comes into force from the date of its adoption.
