The "transit" section of the M15 "Odessa-Reni" highway, passing through the territory of Moldova, now works with video traffic control instead of issuing paper coupons.
The border guards have changed the traffic control regime on the "transit" section of the M15 "Odessa-Reni" highway, which runs through the territory of Moldova near the village of Palanca. In this section, the road itself belongs to Ukraine, but the territory around it remains Moldovan. The movement of Ukrainian cars is allowed without stopping and, at the same time, passes without traditional border control.
Previously, there was a traffic regime in which, upon entering the transit section, the driver received a coupon indicating the number of people in the vehicle, and at the exit from the transit section, the driver handed this coupon to the border guards. At the same time, border guards patrolled the transit section and monitored the traffic, avoiding stops, except for the roadside mini-market in Palanca.
For several days, a new traffic control regime has been operating on this section - already without issuing paper coupons indicating the number of people in the transport there. Instead, the border guards introduced permanent video surveillance of the entire transit section. If a vehicle stops at a transit section, the system will automatically signal the border guards - and the stopped car will be checked.
This part of the territory was supposed to go to Ukraine following the agreement signed in 1998 on the mutual exchange of territories between Ukraine and Moldova. According to this agreement, Moldova received a section of the Danube bank near Giurgiulesti, where a river and seaport was then built but did not completely transfer a plot of territory near Palanca to Ukraine since the Moldovan parliament did not ratify this agreement.
