President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that Russia is pressuring some European countries not to contribute to the PURL initiative.
The head of state said this during a joint press conference with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson at the Saab factory.
“The PURL program is important. We know that Russia is working with some European countries, pressuring them not to contribute to this program. The program mainly concerns PAC-3, because we need these missiles — especially during the war, especially for the Patriot systems,” Zelensky emphasized.
According to him, Russia is also spreading disinformation about its alleged victory in the war.
“Russia is spreading disinformation in the media — mostly in the United States today, and also in Europe — that they are winning this war. But that’s not true. They have lost more than a million people — one million three hundred thousand,” the President said.
He added that Russia’s economy is in decline. “Of course, it is a wealthy country with a lot of money, finances, and energy. That’s why sanctions on the energy sector — total sanctions, without any games, real sanctions — are needed. All these measures will put pressure on them, and then they will sit down at the negotiating table and talk,” Zelensky said.
