The bilateral document on US security guarantees for Ukraine is practically ready for finalization at the highest level with US President Donald Trump.
This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
According to Zelensky, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, “reported on the results of our team’s negotiations in France yesterday. The bilateral document on security guarantees for Ukraine is practically ready for finalization at the highest level with the President of the United States.”
The President emphasized, “It is important that Ukraine continues to coordinate the work of European and American teams, and together we discussed, among other things, documents on reconstruction and economic development.”
Difficult issues regarding the basic framework for ending the war were also discussed, and the Ukrainian side presented possible options for finalizing this document, Zelensky noted.
“We understand that the American side will communicate with Russia, and we expect feedback — whether the aggressor is actually ready to end the war,” the Head of State stressed.
Zelensky added that after returning to Kyiv, the Ukrainian negotiation team will report on all the details of the meetings.
“We are also informing our partners about the consequences of Russian strikes, which clearly indicate that Moscow is not reconsidering its priorities. In this context, pressure on Russia must increase just as intensively as the negotiation teams are working. The realism of future security guarantees must be demonstrated by the partners’ ability at this stage to exert effective pressure on the aggressor. We are preparing new relevant contacts with our partners,” the President emphasized.
