The main water pipeline supplying water to Mykolaiv has begun the process of technical filling of the system. This is one of the final stages of construction before commissioning work and the restoration of water supply in the city.
The project is being implemented by the State Recovery Agency in coordination with the Ministry of Development.
The main water pipeline spans over 130 km of new infrastructure. To ensure stable operation, water is being supplied gradually. Every valve and connection is being tested in real-time. The entire system is under constant monitoring of pressure and equipment performance.
“The main stage of construction of the Mykolaiv water pipeline is already completed. We have started filling the system with water. This is one of the most responsible moments. By August, after the system is fully filled and final tests are completed, water supply will be restored for over half a million residents of Mykolaiv — for the first time since 2022,” said Oleksiy Kuleba, Vice Prime Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine and Minister of Community Development and Territories.
Current progress includes:
- Over 134 km of pipes installed — 98% of total length;
- Pump stations are over 80% ready;
- System flushing has been completed and main equipment installed;
- Overall construction readiness of the facility is 85%.
Construction of the pipeline began in January 2025. The project cost has been reduced by more than 2.5 billion UAH. The savings are being redirected to other water supply projects in Dnipropetrovsk, Odessa, and Poltava regions.
