Part of the defenders of Zmiiny (Snake) Island, as well as a significant amount of the defenders of Mariupol and Azovstal, are in Russian captivity. Work on their return home continues.

This was announced during a briefing at the Ukraine-Ukrinform Media Center on the occasion of the presentation of a series of three documentaries, "Military intelligence of Ukraine: on the sea, in the sky, on the ground", Andrii Yusov, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, said, answering the question about the fate of Zmiiny Island's defenders.

"Indeed, part of the defenders of Zmiiny, a significant part of the defenders of Mariupol and Azovstal, are in the captivity of the racists. Work continues to ensure that each of them returns home. Those boys and girls who have already been returned are now going through rehabilitation and post-isolation support. They are returning either conditionally to a normal life, as long as we can all live a normal life now, or also to struggle and continue to fulfill their duties. Therefore, this is a sensitive topic," Andriy Yusov noted.

During the presentation of the films, the representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence noted that the critical principle of all journalists and representatives of the film industry is "Not harm!".

"The main principle here is 'not harm', because everything is happening and continues to happen in real-time; this is the opinion of Ukrainian journalists, Ukrainian directors, and international media, which show the truth with documentary productions. This truth is on the side of Ukraine because it is on the side of international humanitarian law and historical justice. And also, very often, you can't show what you want," Andriy Yusov added.

The series of three documentaries, "Military intelligence of Ukraine: on the sea, in the sky, on the ground," is dedicated to combating operations with the participation of servicemen of the Military Intelligence Service of the Ukrainian Military Academy in 2022. The tapes used exclusive footage of the work of special forces and covered the operation on Azovstal, the Kharkiv offensive, and the liberation of Zmiiny (Snake) Island.
