Ukraine’s Shelter Coalition has already received pledges from partners totaling over €22 million, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko reported.
“I am grateful to all the countries that have announced new contributions totaling more than €22 million. Of this, Finland contributed €11 million, leading the coalition with its unique 80-year experience in developing bomb shelter systems. Sweden’s contribution amounts to €7 million, Lithuania and Belgium €2 million each, and Ireland €0.5 million. Switzerland also intends to join the initiative,” Svyrydenko wrote on Telegram following the first founding meeting of Ukraine’s Ministry of Internal Affairs Shelter Coalition.

She added that more than 42 underground schools have already been built in frontline regions using the state budget and previous partner contributions.
“For the first time, the draft state budget for next year includes UAH 1 billion for shelters in kindergartens. We hope it will be approved next week,” she noted.
