President Volodymyr Zelensky expects several stages of prisoner exchanges to fulfill the agreements from the second meeting in Istanbul.
He announced this in Telegram.
“I have received reports on the completed stages of prisoner exchanges and those currently being prepared. We expect several stages of exchanges in line with the agreements from the second Istanbul meeting and continue other activities to free our people—both military and civilians. This work is coordinated by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, with all necessary forces and institutions involved,” Zelensky said.
He noted that during the spring and summer of this year, the exchanges have significantly intensified.
“Among those released from captivity are people previously listed as missing, as well as those held in Russian prisons and camps since before the full-scale war began. That is why our team is verifying information on every name. We are searching for all our people. Today, we also received reports on rehabilitation measures for those returned from captivity, as well as ongoing investigations into crimes committed against Ukrainian prisoners,” the President added, emphasizing the need to “restore justice, and for this, we are working at all levels—legal, political, and through special operations.”
The President also expressed gratitude to Ukrainian intelligence, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Presidential Office team, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Ombudsman, and everyone involved in the Coordination Headquarters team.
