On December 5, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree imposing sanctions against the government of Georgia.

This was in response to recent events in the country. Volodymyr Zelensky stated,

"I have just signed a decree that enacts the National Security and Defense Council’s decision on sanctions. These sanctions target a part of the current Georgian government that is surrendering Georgia to Putin. This is the reason for the protests in Georgia right now."

Zelensky emphasized that it is important for partners to speak out about their stance and honestly address the situation.

"Ukraine has imposed sanctions against Ivanishvili and his associates—19 individuals—those who are selling the interests of Georgia and its people. We call on Europe, America, and everyone worldwide to act in the same principled way," the president noted.
