The Higher Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine will resume the qualification assessment of judges on November 13 to ensure their compliance with their positions.

A total of 1884 judges from local and appellate courts across Ukraine are expected to undergo this assessment, as reported by the Higher Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine press service. Some individuals (109) will begin with the examination stage, while the majority (1775) have been allowed to proceed to the second stage, involving the examination of case files and interviews.

The Public Integrity Council will participate in the interview stage, aiming to assist the commission in evaluating the judge or candidate's adherence to professional ethics and integrity criteria.

In anticipation of the resumption of the qualification assessment, the commission, in collaboration with the Public Integrity Council, has agreed on a list of indicators indicating non-compliance with the criteria of integrity and professional ethics for judges or judge candidates, along with principles for their application.

The qualification assessment of judges, restarting on November 13, 2023, will commence with the operation of three panels within the commission.

The last session of the Higher Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine for the qualification assessment of judges based on their compliance with their positions was held on November 5, 2019. The mandate of the second-term members of the commission ended just two days later.

The new composition of the Higher Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine was elected in June 2023, enabling the resumption of all commission procedures, including the qualification assessment of judges.
