Ukraine endured another day of heavy Russian attacks on Friday, August 22, as multiple regions came under relentless drone, missile, and artillery fire, leaving civilians dead, injured, and homeless.

In the village of Kurhanne in the Kupiansk district of the Kharkiv region, a Russian FPV drone strike early Friday morning killed one person and injured three others. According to the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the attack took place around 4:00 a.m., targeting a private residential area and sparking a fire. Several houses and outbuildings were damaged, and a 59-year-old man was killed.

From the morning of August 21 to the morning of August 22, Russian forces launched nearly 80 attacks on 33 settlements in the Sumy region, leaving one man injured in the Seredyna-Buda community after mortar shelling. The Sumy Regional Military Administration reported the heaviest strikes in the Sumy and Shostka districts, including 20 KAB airstrikes, 10 rocket attacks from multiple launch systems, over 10 drone-dropped grenades, and several FPV drone assaults. Civilian infrastructure suffered significant damage, with homes and vehicles destroyed in Bilopillia and Sumy communities.

In the Donetsk region, Russian shelling wounded two residents on August 21 — one in Kostiantynivka and another in Zolote Kolodiaz. According to regional authorities, the total civilian toll in the Donetsk region has reached 3,429 killed and 7,870 injured, excluding data from Mariupol and Volnovakha.

In the Kherson region, Russian drone and artillery strikes over the past day killed one person and injured 17 others. Damage was reported in numerous settlements, including Antonivka, Sadove, Bilozerka, Romashkove, Tomyna Balka, and the city of Kherson. At least ten apartment buildings, four private houses, and several vehicles were destroyed or damaged.

The Zaporizhzhia region also faced intense bombardment, with Russian forces carrying out 584 attacks on 12 settlements within 24 hours, injuring one woman in the Polohy district. According to regional officials, the strikes included 12 air raids on Prymorske, Huliaipole, Novoandriivka, Uspenivka, and Malynivka, six rocket artillery attacks, 396 drone assaults — mostly FPVs — and 170 artillery strikes.
