Crimean Tatar Ernes Ametov was taken into custody today right in the hall of the Southern District Military Court, where his case was retried.
Ernes is the only person accused in the temporarily occupied Crimea of ​​participating in the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization, which is banned and recognized as terrorist in Russia, and which was acquitted by a court of first instance in September 2020.
The prosecutor's office appealed the decision, but the appellate court overturned it. Ametov's case was sent for consideration.
The case was received by the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don on April 11, 2022. A preliminary meeting was held today. Ernes Ametov and his lawyer came to him in Rostov.
The court sent Ametov into custody for two months. He had previously spent three years in detention in the Crimean and Rostov pre-trial detention centers.
 By prosecuting Crimean Tatars and other illegally detained Ukrainians, the occupying country violates international law, the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
