The Russian army has begun using reconnaissance drones with disabled navigation. This was reported by Yuriy Ignat, a representative of the Ukrainian Air Force, on Radio Free Europe.
"The enemy is employing new tactical methods: launching UAVs without navigation, without GPS signals. They activate this signal directly over the object that the enemy plans to reconnoiter and strike with Iskander missiles," Ignat said.
According to the representative of the Ukrainian Air Force, senior leadership has already tasked solving this problem.
"Currently, they are seeking innovative solutions, working with enemy reconnaissance drones using FPV drones, working with anti-aircraft drones, as they are called, and they are working quite successfully. I think all defense forces should pay attention to this and implement such relatively inexpensive means compared to spending rockets. Well, you still need rockets, and today rockets serve a deterrent function," said the colonel.
Ignat added that up to fifty UAVs fly daily along the front line, and certain types of drones can also reach rear areas.
"Yes, there are various means of counteraction: there are mobile fire groups that can use fighter aircraft. There is already positive experience with the YAK-52 in the South, and there are also electronic warfare systems," the military official explained.
