The Russian command aims to preserve its equipment and weaponry, which is why it employs personnel to identify the firing positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This was reported by the spokesperson for the Joint Task Force Kharkiv, Vitaliy Sarantsev, during a telethon.
"The enemy prefers to preserve its equipment and weaponry rather than safeguard its own personnel. As a result, they often send people into unclear assaults. They send individuals for assault actions, using them as bait so that the Defense Forces can engage with them," he explained.
According to him, this way, the Russians are trying to ascertain the firing system of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and inflict damage. However, those individuals are almost certainly killed by the fire from the Ukrainian military.
Currently, the hottest spot in the area remains Vovchansk and the adjacent settlements. Specifically, in Vovchansk, the Russians continue attempts to expand their zone of control, utilizing all available forces and means—shelling the city with multiple rocket launchers or heavy flamethrower systems.
"Occasionally, the enemy manages to inflict damage on its own units. 'Friendly fire' indicates that the opponent is in a state of despair or extreme anger and has the task of advancing to their unit, which remains blocked at the aggregate factory. Naturally, they are unsuccessful because we account for all available means and capabilities of the enemy. We are aware of all the forces they bring in to reform assault groups and reinforce the attackers going into battle," he emphasized.
