On the night of January 15, Russia launched 117 aerial targets against Ukraine. Air Defense managed to destroy 77 of them.
This was reported by the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
During the combined attack, the terrorists used missiles of various types: air-launched, ground-launched, and sea-launched, as well as Shahed-type strike UAVs and decoy drones:
- One Iskander-M/KN ballistic missile was launched from Belgorod region;
- Seven Kh-22/32 cruise missiles from Tu-22M3 aircraft in Tula region;
- Four Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea;
- 27 Kh-101/Kh-55 cruise missiles from strategic bombers Tu-95MS in Volgograd region;
- Four air-launched guided missiles Kh-59/Kh-69 from tactical aviation aircraft in Belgorod region;
- 74 Shahed drones and decoy drones of various types from Russian cities such as Bryansk, Millerovo, Orel, and Primorsk-Akhtarsk.
The attack was repelled with the involvement of:
- Aviation;
- Anti-aircraft missile units;
- Electronic warfare (EW) assets;
- Mobile fire groups of the Air Forces and the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
As of 10 AM, 77 aerial targets were confirmed to be destroyed:
- 23 Kh-101, Kh-55 cruise missiles;
- Three Kalibr cruise missiles;
- Four Kh-59/Kh-69 guided air-launched missiles;
- 47 Shahed UAVs/decoy drones of various types. Another 27 did not reach their targets and were location-lost.
It is noted that not all missiles that were not included in the destroyed statistics reached their targets.
"The enemy attacked Ukrainian energy infrastructure, including gas infrastructure in Kharkiv, Lviv, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. Unfortunately, as a result of the Russian attack, there were damages to facilities," the Air Forces added.
