Russia launches widespread drone and missile attacks across Ukraine

On the night of October 8, Russian forces carried out multiple drone and missile strikes across Ukraine, causing casualties, fires, and significant damage to civilian infrastructure.

Odessa Region
Russian strike drones targeted the Odessa district, damaging windows of an administrative building and an outbuilding. A fire broke out but was quickly extinguished. There were no casualties, according to Odesa Regional Military Administration head Oleh Kiper.

Kherson Region
Around 7:30 a.m., Russian forces attacked the Korabelny district of Kherson. Two residents—a 62-year-old woman and an elderly man—were killed, while a 55-year-old woman was hospitalized with blast injuries to her torso and limbs. The incident was reported by Kherson Regional Military Administration head Oleksandr Prokudin.

Sumy Region
In the Krasnopillia community, a Russian drone struck a residential building, injuring a family. A 4-year-old girl sustained severe burns and is in critical condition. She, her mother, and grandmother are hospitalized. This was reported by Sumy Regional Military Administration head Oleh Hryhorov.

Chernihiv Region
In Pryluky, a strike drone hit an oil depot, causing a fire, according to Chernihiv Regional State Administration head Vyacheslav Chaus. In the Semenivka community, a drone strike destroyed a road repair vehicle, injuring the 56-year-old driver, who sustained multiple shrapnel wounds, a forearm fracture, and a concussion. In Nizhyn, strikes targeted railway and energy facilities, leaving more than 4,500 subscribers without electricity.

Dnipropetrovsk Region
On the night of October 8, Russian forces struck Kryvyi Rih district. In Zelenodolsk community and Novopil, a woman and a man were injured and hospitalized. Fires broke out but were extinguished, and infrastructure was damaged. In Nikopol district, including Nikopol and Marhanets, three people were injured. Damage included a business, a religious organization, 15 private houses, a five-story building, three outbuildings, six vehicles, and a gas pipeline. In Synelnykove district, UAV strikes damaged seven houses and caused a fire on an apartment balcony, which was extinguished.

Zaporizhzhia Region
Over the past day, Russian forces carried out 510 strikes on 16 settlements. This included one missile strike on Komyshuvakha, 10 airstrikes on Huliaipole, Bilohirya, Uspenivka, Poltavka, and Novoupsenivske, and 317 UAV attacks—mostly FPV drones—on multiple villages. Six rocket artillery strikes and 176 artillery strikes were also reported. Property damage occurred to houses, apartments, outbuildings, and vehicles, but no civilian casualties were reported.

Donetsk Region
On October 7, Russian attacks killed two residents in Vodianske and injured ten others, according to the Donetsk Regional State Administration. The total number of casualties in the region now stands at 3,673 dead and 8,289 injured (excluding Mariupol and Volnovakha).
