The Chairman of the Moldovan Parliament, Igor Grosu, does not rule out that Transnistria may face an energy crisis again in the coming months, according to infotag.

He said the economic situation in the region remains extremely difficult, partly due to unstable gas supplies. Grosu emphasized that the responsibility lies with Russia, which, according to Chisinau, continues to try to destabilize the situation in the country ahead of the parliamentary elections scheduled for September 28.

Grosu noted that “Moscow’s actions defy logic” and added that “a new wave of energy pressure can be expected from the Kremlin, although probably not in as harsh a form as it was in winter.” He suggested that the next crisis could be initiated just before the elections to influence the internal political situation.

At the same time, the parliamentary chairman assured that if necessary, the Moldovan authorities will support the residents on the left bank of the Dniester to minimize the consequences of possible energy pressure.

It is worth recalling that on January 1, mass gas outages began in Transnistria, the unrecognized region of Moldova.

Later, it became known that the energy crisis in Transnistria was part of Russia’s influence campaign in Moldova.
