On the night of September 11-12, the Russian Federation launched an attack on the city of Konotop in the Sumy region, resulting in significant damage and casualties.
According to Artem Semenikhin, the mayor of Konotop, the strikes targeted both infrastructure and residential areas in the city center. As a result, electricity and water supplies were disrupted.
At around 2:40 a.m., two people had been hospitalized due to injuries, with one in critical condition, currently in a coma. The exact number of injured is still being determined.
Semenikhin reported that water supply was temporarily restored and urged residents to stock up, as it will be cut off again in the morning for repairs. Authorities have also organized the evacuation of people whose homes were damaged in the attack.
Additionally, the mayor announced at 3:07 a.m. that tram services in the city would be limited due to the destruction of tram tracks during the attack.
"The situation with electricity supply in Konotop is simply critical. The energy infrastructure has suffered significant damage. Energy workers are doing more than is even possible at this moment to provide power to the hospital and the water utility. When electricity will appear in residents' homes, even for a few hours a day, no one can predict," reported Semenikhin.
