Russian forces continued their attacks on multiple Ukrainian regions over the past day, killing one civilian in Sumy Region and injuring residents in Kharkiv, Donetsk, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Chernihiv regions, according to regional authorities.
In Sumy region, Russian troops carried out nearly 20 attacks on 11 settlements across eight territorial communities between the mornings of December 15 and December 16, the Sumy Regional Military Administration reported. A 68-year-old man was killed in the Velyka Pysarivka community as a result of an FPV drone strike. Another resident, a 72-year-old man, sought medical assistance after sustaining injuries during a drone attack on December 14. In the Hlukhiv community, a 60-year-old man was also wounded by an FPV drone.
The heaviest shelling was recorded in the Sumy and Shostka districts. Russian forces used artillery, mortars, FPV drones, unmanned aerial vehicles, and guided aerial bombs. Residential damage was reported across several communities, including Yunakivka, Hlukhiv, Esman, Shalyhyne, and Seredyna-Buda, where private homes, outbuildings, and vehicles were damaged or destroyed.
In the Kharkiv region, seven settlements came under Russian attacks over the past day, according to Regional State Administration head Oleh Syniehubov. Medical assistance was provided to three civilians who had been wounded earlier in Kupiansk and Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi during shelling in late November and early December. Russian forces used guided aerial bombs, Geran-2 drones, Molniya drones, FPV drones, and unidentified UAVs. Damage was reported to a cultural facility in Velykyi Burluk, as well as private houses in Bezruky, Petropavlivka, and Lyman.
In Donetsk region, Russian shelling wounded 12 civilians on December 15, according to regional governor Vadym Filashkin. Five people were injured in Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka, three in Druzhkivka, two in Kostiantynivka, and one each in Lyman and Maiaky. The total number of casualties in the region since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion has reached 3,768 killed and 8,601 wounded, excluding Mariupol and Volnovakha.
In the Kherson region, one person was wounded over the past day as Russian forces carried out drone attacks, airstrikes, and artillery shelling across dozens of settlements, including Antonivka, Bilozerka, Beryslav, Stanislav, and the city of Kherson. According to regional head Oleksandr Prokudin, the attacks damaged five apartment buildings, 10 private homes, a bus stop, an animal shelter, a volunteer warehouse, utility infrastructure, garages, and an ambulance.
Zaporizhzhia region also came under intense fire, with Russian forces launching 851 strikes on 23 settlements over the past day, the regional administration reported. Two civilians were wounded in an attack on the city of Zaporizhzhia. The strikes included 10 airstrikes, more than 500 drone attacks—mostly FPV drones—five multiple-launch rocket system strikes, and 300 artillery strikes. Damage was reported to homes, vehicles, and infrastructure facilities across the region, with 33 incidents recorded.
In Chernihiv region, a Russian drone strike caused a fire at a farm in the village of Zhernivka in the Novhorod-Siverskyi district, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported. The attack destroyed the roof of a cowshed, killing five heads of cattle and damaging agricultural equipment.
