Russian forces are massing assault groups in the area of the settlement of Dachi on the left bank of the Kherson region, attempting to seize strategically important positions near the Antonivsky bridges.
This was reported on television by the spokesman for the South Defense Forces, Vladyslav Voloshyn.
“Right now, Russian forces are concentrating a certain number of assault groups in the settlement of Dachi, which is on the route from Oleshky to the Antonivsky Bridge. Ukraine’s Defense Forces are firmly holding their positions near the bridges, but Russian forces want to capture this part because it is the narrowest point on the Dnipro,” Voloshyn said.
He explained that in this section the distance between the banks is about 700–800 meters, and if Ukrainian units are pushed out, Russian forces will be able to deploy certain types of weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles there, set up sites for their launch, which will allow them to deliver effective strikes on the right bank and control the so-called main channel of the Dnipro.
“Russian forces are trying by all means to conduct assault operations here and take our positions under control, but they are not succeeding,” Voloshyn stressed.
The spokesman also reported that in the occupied part of the Kherson region, Russian forces are completing rotation measures and transferring assault units to intensify attacks. Their main goal is to take control of the island zone, in particular the positions near the Antonivsky bridges, which they have been trying to storm almost daily.
