Russian soldiers likely shot Ukrainian soldiers who were taken prisoner. A corresponding video of the execution has appeared online.
This was reported by the Ombudsman for Human Rights in Ukraine, Dmytro Lubinets.
According to Lubinets, Russian military channels are spreading the video of the possible execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war.
"In the video, you can hear how Russian soldiers are repeatedly ordered to shoot the prisoners of war. This underscores that the death penalty is a conscious policy of Russia," the ombudsman noted.
He pointed out that such actions by the Russians violate international humanitarian law and the Geneva Convention on the treatment of prisoners of war.
Lubinets mentioned that he has already sent letters to the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross. He called on the organizations to put pressure on Russia so that the aggressor feels the consequences of such actions and refrains from carrying them out in the future.
