Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, as part of a delegation led by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, paid working visits to France, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Germany.
During the visits, Umerov held talks with the defense ministers of these countries and also met with French President Emmanuel Macron.
“We had productive meetings, with strong support and agreements that bring us closer to our victory,” emphasized Ukraine’s Defense Minister.
The representatives of the four countries confirmed that investments in Ukraine’s defense-industrial complex will grow. Specifically, the discussions focused on concrete steps to increase the production of weapons—both in Ukraine and through the creation of joint ventures with European partners. This will enable the production of equipment, weapons, and ammunition for the Defense Forces under a fundamentally new format of cooperation.
“There will be more weapons for our defenders. The United Kingdom will supply AS-90 artillery systems, long-range weapons, and robotic systems, which will significantly enhance our battlefield capabilities,” noted Rustem Umerov.
The talks also addressed the prospect of using frozen Russian assets to finance Ukraine’s defense needs.
Additionally, in France, Umerov personally reviewed the training of a Ukrainian brigade.
“France not only trains but also equips our units with modern weapons. This is an example that other partners should follow,” said the Defense Minister of Ukraine.
Rustem Umerov thanked the governments and people of France, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Germany for their strong support.
During the meeting with President Emmanuel Macron, Umerov also proposed an exchange of experience in the drone sector. Ukraine is ready to help create a training center for UAV operators in France.
