Russians have positioned barges south of the Kerch (Crimean) Bridge, which are intended to serve as "barriers" against Ukrainian maritime drones during potential future attacks.
As reported by the Russian service of Radio Liberty, satellite images from the Planet.com service reveal that barges have been installed to the south of the bridge.
These barges are not "submerged" but are likely anchored in place and may be used as a foundation for obstructing Ukrainian maritime drones. The images, taken on August 19 and 21, also show preparatory work being carried out in the area.
Earlier, attention was drawn to the fact that barriers had been installed on the southern side of the bridge leading from Taman to annexed Crimea, following an attack by Ukrainian maritime drones.
The Russians are attempting to protect the illegally constructed Crimean Bridge from strikes by the Defense Forces. Specifically, it has become known that in the area of the Kerch Strait, near the bridge between Russia and the temporarily occupied Crimea, they are carrying out preparatory work to sink a second ferry. According to the Main Intelligence Directorate, the Russians plan to sink at least six such vessels of this type in front of the bridge.
