The government of South Korea has imposed sanctions on two Russian vessels involved in transporting military cargo to North Korea, as well as two legal entities and two individuals associated with financing nuclear and missile developments in North Korea.

This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Korea.

Two Russian ships were carrying a large number of containers with military cargo between Russia and North Korea. Seoul noted that military cooperation, including arms trade between Russia and North Korea, is a clear violation of UN Security Council resolutions and "an act that seriously threatens peace and stability not only on the Korean Peninsula but also worldwide."

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the South Korean government may take additional measures if necessary.

In addition, Seoul has imposed sanctions on two Russian organizations and two individuals representing them. It is reported that they are involved in sending North Korean workers to Russia, including IT personnel.

These are the LLC "Intellect" and its representative Sergei Kozlov, as well as the company "Sodruzhestvo" and its representative Alexander Panfilov. They provided North Korean workers with documents and foreign currency, as well as facilitated their departure and stay in Russia.

South Korea believes that these workers may travel to Russia as compensation provided by Moscow for receiving North Korean weapons.

"Our government strongly urges Russia to immediately cease any illegal cooperation with North Korea, including military cooperation that violates Security Council resolutions, and to fulfill its obligations as a permanent member of the UN Security Council. We will continue to take strict measures in cooperation with the international community," the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
