In Odessa, city council deputies were introduced to the head of the newly created city military administration, Serhiy Lysak.

The ceremony took place with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Viktor Mykyta, Head of Odesa Regional Military Administration Oleh Kiper, and Acting Mayor of Odesa Ihor Koval.

“General and combat officer Serhiy Lysak is appointed as the head of the Military Administration. I am confident that a person like him is needed in Odessa today,” said Mykyta.

Kuleba, in turn, noted that Lysak has extensive experience managing communities under extremely difficult conditions.

“He headed the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, a region constantly affected by attacks. At the same time, Dnipropetrovsk is one of the economic centers of our country. The region continues to function, and this is largely thanks to its leadership. I am confident that this is now a major reinforcement for Odessa, a city of strategic importance to Ukraine,” said Kuleba.

He added that Ukraine faces an extremely difficult winter, and Odessa now more than ever needs clear coordination between all branches of government and the military.

Kuleba also called on city council deputies to cooperate fully with the Military Administration.

“I am confident that Lysak will ensure order, effective management, and coordination among all services,” Kuleba added.

During his speech, Lysak thanked everyone for their trust and noted that security will be the top priority in his work.

“Our state is attacked by the enemy every day, so security will be the priority. But we will also not forget the social aspect, for our boys and girls defending the country. We would also like to address issues of healthcare and education,” he said.

On October 15, President Volodymyr Zelensky appointed Serhiy Lysak as the head of the Odesa City Military Administration.

He also revoked the Ukrainian citizenship of individuals found to hold Russian passports, including Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov. The duties of Odesa’s mayor are being performed by the city council secretary, Ihor Koval.
