Since the beginning of the Russian aggression, 780 people have been affected by explosive devices, including 251 fatalities and 529 injuries of varying severity. Among the casualties, 77 were children, with 13 fatalities and 64 children injured.
This information was provided by Deputy Chief of the Pyrotechnic Works Organization Department of the State Emergency Service Colonel Mykola Dydyk during a briefing at the Military Media Center on the "Status of Demining by State Emergency Service Pyrotechnic Units of the De-Occupied Territories."
State Emergency Service units are equipped with 15 mechanized demining vehicles that carry out tasks in the most priority areas of the de-occupied territories. With the help of mechanized demining vehicles, over 250 hectares of territory have been surveyed. The use of this equipment significantly increases the safety of personnel, accelerates demining work, and allows for tasks to be carried out in highly contaminated areas, including anti-personnel and anti-tank minefields.
Since the start of the invasion of Russian forces into Ukraine, State Emergency Service units have conducted more than 21,600 information campaigns that reached approximately 621,000 people. The priority is to educate children on safety rules and behavior in case of discovering explosive devices, especially among school-aged children.
