Spain is preparing a new aid package for Ukraine, which may be completed by June 30.
According to El Pais, the aid package will include:
• Large-caliber artillery ammunition,
• Light and heavy machine guns,
• Protected wheeled logistical vehicles,
• Infantry fighting vehicles,
• Anti-tank weapons and field artillery shells,
• The first 10 combat tanks from a batch of 19 refurbished Leopard 2 A4 tanks.
In addition, Spanish companies will supply anti-aircraft observation systems and remote weapon stations to defend against drones.
Sources suggest that Spain's military assistance to Ukraine will likely be channeled through NATO. "More effective mechanisms" for directing future military aid to Ukraine will be approved at the summit planned for July 9-11 in Washington, marking the 75th anniversary of the founding of the North Atlantic Alliance.
According to the sources, the idea is for NATO to coordinate the supply from various countries, replacing the so-called "Rammstein" Contact Group on Ukraine.
