Spanish farmers from the Unión de Uniones association held a protest on Monday in front of the European Commission building in Madrid, demanding action against the excessive import of grain from Ukraine, according to uniondeuniones.org.

The association also condemned the speculation on feed prices, which is affecting livestock farmers.

"Unión de Uniones held a rally in front of the European Commission building in Madrid to protest against the excessive import of agri-food products that creates unfair competition with European production, especially grain from Ukraine, leading to falling prices for farmers, while ranch owners continue to pay high prices for feed," the statement emphasized.

The association registered a letter to the President of the European Commission outlining its demands and proposals for resolving the situation.

Unión de Uniones brings together about thirty producers representing key agricultural regions in Spain.
