Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine conducted a special operation in Dnipro, detaining another agent of the Russian Federal Security Service - an official from one of the key stations of 'Ukrzaliznytsia.'

"On the aggressor's instructions, he collected information about railway routes used for transporting Ukrainian military equipment. The agent was particularly interested in intelligence on the quantity and type of weaponry transported by rail," reported the SBU's Telegram channel on Monday.

According to Ukrainian intelligence, the Russian agent documented the time and place of passage of military convoys and sought to learn their routes with stops and destinations. "Primarily, the perpetrator attempted to gather maximum information about the transportation of combat vehicles such as 'Bradley' and 'Leopard' tanks to the front," the statement emphasized.

According to available information, the reconnaissance data was needed by occupiers to prepare air strikes on railway facilities in the region. In this way, the invaders hoped to disrupt the logistics of supplying weapons and ammunition to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

SSU operatives timely exposed the enemy agent, documented his criminal actions, and detained him at his residence.

The investigation revealed that the suspect was remotely recruited by the Russian FSB in the summer of this year. He came into the sight of Russian special services due to his destructive activity in pro-Kremlin Telegram channels, where he endorsed Russia's armed aggression.

During the searches at the suspect's residence, mobile phones used in his intelligence and subversive activities on behalf of Russia were seized.

The suspect is currently in custody. The investigation is ongoing. The criminal faces a life sentence.
