The Security Service of Ukraine has detained an FSB agent active in the Odesa region. The suspect was involved in two main areas of intelligence and sabotage activities: fire correction and arson.
Specifically, the individual was tracking the locations of Ukrainian defense forces and directing Russian missile and drone attacks on them. Priority targets included air defense positions protecting the city’s airspace.
Another aspect of the suspect's criminal activities involved the destruction of Ukrzaliznytsia relay cabinets, including arson attacks on signal boxes at critical railway junctions. After the first arson incident, the SBU apprehended the agent "hot on the trail."
The investigation revealed that the suspect was preparing to carry out new sabotage acts against transportation infrastructure. The detained individual, a 39-year-old local resident, was found to be part of the FSB's intelligence network and had been in Russia for an extended period, where his father resides.
The suspect came into the occupiers' focus before the full-scale war began, having registered for military service in Krasnodar to obtain a Russian passport. Before the war, he returned to Ukraine, where the FSB subsequently contacted him remotely and recruited him for sabotage activities.
During searches of the suspect's residence, two F-1 grenades and a mobile phone containing evidence of criminal activities were discovered. The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment.
